Land near the toe of the Chitina Glacier, which feeds the region’s largest river. Here the river bar of the braided waters is three miles wide, and is home to moose, wolves, coyotes and even bison. Climbing moderate slopes behind the strip on a clear day allows views of Mt. Logan (19,850’), the second highest peak in North America.
Take the route along the Chitina Galcier to Ram glacier for an enjoyable excursion to a secluded campsite with exquisite views. There is a public-use cabin available near the strip on a first come, first serve basis.
Thank you for all of your help with our recent hiking trip. The Wrangells are absolutely gorgeous. Memories of the trip will visit our dreams for the rest of our lives. Your enthusiasm about the park and preserve during our phone conversations played a large part in our decision to travel to the Wrangells. The route you helped us decide on was perfect for our abilities and the length of time we had available. We all appreciated your concern for our safety and the extremely friendly staff. I will certainly encourage future groups to travel with you..
