There
are three ways to get to McCarthy~Kennicott. Flying, driving or
a combination of the two.
During the summer WMA offers daily scheduled service from Chitina,
at the end of the paved road, to McCarthy ~ Kennicott. This a great
way to take in some flightseeing and avoid the single lane unimproved
road between Chitina and McCarthy. It also saves 5-6 hours driving
time (round trip).

For
those of you who don't have the time or don't want to drive, charter
flights are available to the Wrangell-St. Elias from any arrival
point. We commonly pick passengers up at Glennallen, Valdez, Anchorage,
Denali National Park and Fairbanks. If somewhere else would be more
convenient, give us a call and we'll be happy to make you a quote.
Most of the major car rental companies are available in Anchorage
if you plan to drive. Be sure to check for restrictions regarding
gravel roads.
Charter
Air Service
When
you charter an aircraft, you are hiring the airplane and pilot
to fly to a destination of your choice. Our largest airplane,
a Dehavilland Beaver can accommodate up to seven passengers
and 30 pounds of baggage each. Wrangell Mountain Air provides
aircraft charter service to or from points in Alaska. Please
call for a quote if your group is larger than 7 people or
if you have more
than 30 lbs. of baggage per person.
