McCarthy’s premier air service ~ Flying Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Since 1992

Kelly and Wayne--just a note to say "thanks" for helping to make our trip to Alaska a real treat. A fly-in trip to Wrangell-St Elias with a glacier hike and tour of the old copper mill was a great way to end a trip that included a cruise of Prince William Sound, a wonderful fishing experience in Katmai country and a tour of Denali National Park. Don't tell anyone--but there are two Texans that admit that Alaska is bigger than Texas. The good thing about a short trip to Wrangell-St. Elias is that I want to go back again! Hope to see you soon.

A challenging and rewarding trip, if you don't mind a little bushwhacking. You will start on a high plateau and cross two wide river valleys on your way to the Hanagita valley. Camp at the base of Hanagita near thunderous waterfalls that beg to be explored up close. When the clouds part and reveal Hanagita's summit you'll be glad you brought some extra film.

The country in the vicinity of Shovel peak provides a dramatic conclusion to a great trip before dropping into Bremner on Golcanda Creek. Allow a day to explore the Bremner area and the relics of gold mining activity.
